This summer our Nellsar Nutrition Champions have been focusing their efforts on hydration as a priority, especially on the warmer days.
A few weeks ago Emma from Jelly Drops contacted me to let me know about the improvements they have made to their hydrating sweets. Jelly Drops contain electrolytes and are fun to eat. Each tray contains 300mls of water.
Our Nutrition Lead at Lulworth House Residential Care Home trialed the new Jelly Drops this month and had some great feedback from residents regarding both the range of flavours and texture of the sweets.
During the trial, residents at the Home loved that they could sit and eat their hydration like sweets and one resident commented that they could see the Jelly Drops working for people receiving palliative care and even for those living with advanced dementia.
Staff members also tried them and one commented that they would like to buy some for loved ones at home struggling with hydration.
All in all it was a fun activity and we are happy to give trials like these a go if they have the potential to add to our nutrition and hydration provision, and as a result the quality of life of those living and working in our Nellsar Homes.
