Puréed mince pies to suit a soft food diet

Many of the residents in our Nellsar Care Homes enjoy a mince pie and we make sure no one has to miss out on the festive treat.

It’s very important to help stimulate the appetites and memories of our residents with tasty foods and treats – especially those that evoke happy memories.

For any of our residents who follow a soft food diet, our Chefs can carefully modify a typical homemade mince pie by adding extra milk and sugar to create a puréed version.

Achieving a natural, enticing look to all puréed foods is key. First, we bake regular mince pies then we process the pastry (at a low temperature) into purée using muffin trays to achieve the desired shape. We then fill the bases with puréed mincemeat filling and top with specially cut round tops.

The final taste is very similar to our regular mince pies!
