Taking a virtual mini cruise to Thailand throughout 20-24 January has been a delightful experience for the residents in our Nellsar Care Homes
It was smiles all round as our ladies and gentlemen explored the colourful traditions of Thai culture, with a highlight, of course, being the mouth-watering Thai cuisine! Our residents savoured the flavours of delicious Pad Thai, fragrant green curry, and sweet sticky rice, all while learning about the fascinating history behind each dish.
Celebrating with Chinese culinary treats that embody the joy of New Year
We also embraced the joy of Chinese New Year across our Homes on 29 January; our residents indulged in tasty treats like dumplings and spring rolls, which are symbols of good luck and prosperity.
The joint eastern celebrations not only brought a taste of Thailand and China to our residents but also created a warm sense of community, allowing everyone to share in the joy and excitement of these vibrant cultures together.

Abbotsleigh Care Home created a delicious noodle dish, a green Thai chicken curry with rice, and sweet sticky mango rice for dessert.
Bromley Park Care Home capped off their five days of virtual travel with a ‘Monkey Feast’ – just like the revered monkeys of Thailand – feasting on succulent fresh fruit skewers and chilled fruit juices.
Hengist Home Care Home enjoyed a sumptuous Thai menu during their mini cruise, of Thai green chicken curry with rice and crackers, and a crunchy vegetable noodle stir-fry, followed by a sweet coconut panna cotta and tangy mango sorbet. Delicious!
Lukestone Care Home residents chose from beautifully presented Thai Tom Yum soup, Papaya salad with tomatoes, Pad Thai with prawns, and Thai chicken rice for the mini cruise adventure, and they enjoyed Chinese egg noodles and spring rolls for the Chinese New Year celebrations.
Lulworth House Residential Care Home created a Thai taster trolley with lots of goodies from a Thai supermarket including a range of snacks from chicken peanuts, fish strips, seaweed, dried mango, and even white rabbit sweets!
Loose Valley Care Home had a Chinese meal for lunch with side dishes of spring rolls, wonton dumplings, chicken satay and delicious dips.
Meyer House Care Home residents chose from spicy chicken with noodles and a boiled egg, sweet and sour chicken with rice noodles, and a crunchy side salad and olive oil and soy dips. And for dessert, a lovely panna cotta.
Princess Christian Care Home served delicious Chinese food for residents to try, including egg and special fried rice, dumplings, spring rolls, prawn toast and prawn crackers, along with dipping sauces!
Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home residents got to sample a few Thai and Chinese snacks including salt and pepper chicken, special fried rice, battered chicken, wontons, spring rolls, prawn toast and prawn crackers.
St Winifreds Care Home celebrated Chinese New Year and enjoyed a yummy dish of sweet and sour chicken with boiled rice and prawn crackers.
The Recreation and Well-Being Team at The Old Downs Residential Care Home created a Chinese taster trolley full goodies including prawn crackers, spring rolls, gyozas, different flavoured bao buns and of course, fortune cookies. Our residents loved trying these with a dash of sweet chilli sauce and soy sauce.
Woodstock Residential Care Home residents were treated to a delicious meal cooked by our lovely Chef Agnes as part of the mini cruise to Thailand; the red Thai curry and a vegetable stir fry were both very well received.
