Over the past few months, residents at Woodstock Residential Care Home have enjoyed the company of their Head Chef Damon at some of their Cooking Club sessions.
In April, their ladies and gents showed off their prepping skills when they all mucked in peeling potatoes, carrots and parsnips to create a tasty vegetable soup. Damon joined in, cutting the vegetables as they were peeled, giving everyone lots of advice and tricks for a good soup.
Later in the month, Damon was on hand to help his residents create delicious pizzas together. He spent time with the group, helping them with their tomato bases and toppings during a very sociable session. Everyone was delighted with their delicious creations which were shared for afternoon tea.
In May, jam tarts were on the menu. Damon enjoyed assisting with the pastry making and chatting with residents about their best techniques. Jam and marmalade were used for the tart fillings and everyone enjoyed eating them at tea time. Delicious!
Having Damon’s input in these baking session has been so valuable to Woodstock’s residents, as they’ve been keen to learn from his experience and get to know him better too!
Damon enjoys being on hand to help, sharing his know-how: “It has been really enjoyable getting to sit and chat with the residents about our shared love of food, and to be able to pass on some tips but also steal some tips from them too!”
