Around the World with Nellsar Cruises – the great armchair travel adventure of 2021 – took residents to France for the day on Wednesday 9 June. Our Recreation and Well-Being teams organised French themed fun and entertainment, while our Chefs prepared delicious culinary delights.
The French are famed for their rich cuisine and love of cheese – take a look at some of the tasty dishes that our residents enjoyed last week.
Bromley Park Care Home residents enjoyed yummy pastry treats with cheese and wine on ‘French Day’ last week, followed by homemade profiteroles. Bedecked in red, white and blue, the Home really set the scene!

On the menu at Hengist Field Care Home was a choice of ‘Coq au Vin’ with rice and green beans, or ‘Mushroom Bourguignon’ with a side of ‘Boulangere Potatoes’. Dessert followed with ‘Crème Caramel’ or French Apple Tart. Exquisite!

Lukestone Care Home began the day with a breakfast of pain au chocolate and croissants with raspberry jam. Lunch really was the main event with a choice of ‘Coquilles St. Jacques’ (scallops) and French Onion Soup to start, followed by ‘Chicken Fricassée’, ‘Lyonnaise Potatoes’ and homemade ‘Quiche Lorraine’. It was French Apple Tart, ‘Tarte au Citron’ or ‘Crêpes Suzette’ for dessert; oooh la la!

Meyer House Care Home residents dined on French Onion Soup for starters, followed by ‘Boeuf Bourguignon’ and ‘Sausage Cassoulet’ with ‘Dauphinoise potatoes’. Our Chef prepared two decadent desserts including ‘Pear Tarte Tatin’ and a French ‘Fraisier Cake’. Spoilt for choice!
Meyer House Care Home
The Chef team at Princess Christian Care Home prepared a French feast for the day’s festivities. At lunchtime, residents tucked into French Onion Soup, yummy ‘Boeuf Bourguignon’ and classic ‘Ratatouille’ with garlic bread. Dessert was a choice of fresh croissants with chocolate sauce or chocolate cake and ice cream. They also enjoyed cups of tea with French cookies throughout the day. Délicieux!
